Over time our teeth begin to weaken and become more susceptible to problems such as decay, cracks and discoloration. If your dentist notices that a tooth is decayed or seems weakened/cracked a crown may be necessary. In some cases, a filling or bonding will not be sufficient.
TRADITIONAL DENTAL CROWNS
Traditional crowns require impressions and temporary restoration. The process usually takes two visits. During your visit, the doctor will prepare your tooth take an impression and mail the molds to a dental laboratory. The turn-around time is usually 15 business days.
CEREC® CROWNS
To maintain a natural look and feel a porcelain CEREC® crown is best, as it can be matched to the shade of your other teeth. CEREC® crowns can be made in a single visit.
The process is simple, once the doctor prepares your tooth, CEREC® 3D imagining software takes a photo of your tooth using a special camera. This helps create a digital scan of your teeth. Once designed, the model is sent over to our in-office CEREC® milling system. This process is extremely precise, ensuring that your newly placed restoration will have a fit that feels natural.
