At Innovative Dental Health, we invest in the latest dental technology to ensure every patient receives precise, comfortable, and efficient care. From same-day restorations to painless injections and early cancer detection, our advanced tools allow us to deliver a higher standard of dentistry right here in Broomall.
CEREC®
CEREC® is an advanced dental technology used for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth. CEREC® can create porcelain crowns, inlays and onlays, and veneers.
The most beneficial feature of receiving a CEREC® restoration is that it is accomplished in one visit. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or temporary to wear.
Once the doctor prepares your tooth, CEREC® 3D imagining software takes a photo of your tooth using a special camera. This helps create a digital scan of your teeth. Once designed, the model is sent over to our in-office CEREC® milling system. This process is extremely precise, ensuring that your newly placed restoration will have a fit that feels natural.
CompuDent™ Wand System
CompuDent™ — also known as The Wand™ — is a Computer-Controlled Local Anesthetic Delivery System designed for patients with dental phobia or dental anxiety. The Wand/CompuDent instrument provides painless injections for all routine dental treatments, including root canals, crowns, fillings, and cleanings.
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays are quickly becoming adopted by a large percentage of the dental industry. A digital x-ray allows the dentist to take an image of the tooth or teeth and put it into an imaging program. Within this imaging program, there are a number of tools that will allow the dentist to take a very close look at the teeth and surrounding structures with amazing accuracy. As a benefit to the patient, the digital x-ray also provides nearly 80% less radiation than a standard x-ray. This is due to the fact that the digital version of the x-ray is much more sensitive to this radiation and has been specifically designed with the patient in mind.
Electric Handpieces
There are two systems for powering handpieces: air turbine and electrical. Air driven handpieces contain an air-driven spinning turbine to generate rotation, and are powered by compressed air. They can reach speeds of up to 400,000 rpm with a variable torque. Electric motor handpieces use an electric motor to drive the head and can be considered self-contained systems. Internal gearings allow them to run at a constant torque (consistent power) with speeds of up to 200,000 rpm. Electric handpieces are quieter and don't produce the same vibratory sensation.
Intraoral Camera
Dr. Kim Tran utilizes an intraoral camera that provides high-quality images to help identify any developing problems requiring immediate attention.
An intraoral camera is a small, pen-like camera that dentists use to get a closer, more detailed look at different areas of your smile. Even though the intraoral camera is small, it can take high-definition images where dentists can use to evaluate your oral health. The camera can reach areas that are more difficult to see with the naked eye and take images at various angles to provide a more detailed and comprehensive examination.
As our dentists takes images with an intraoral camera, the images are projected to a nearby screen, where you, the patient, can also view them. This means that you can see what our dentist sees, giving you a better and clearer understanding of your oral health. Because the images produced by the intraoral camera are digital, our office can send them to any specialists who are a part of your treatment, as well as to your insurance company if needed.
Rotary Endodontics
Here at Innovative Dental Health, we are proud to offer an approach to smoother, more comfortable procedures when conducting root canal procedures. We use rotary endodontic technology to assist with the treatment of a root canal. There are several advantages to using rotary endodontic treatment over traditional root canal therapy, and it all starts with the tools and instruments.
Instead of using traditional manual files and stainless-steel instruments to treat a root canal, Rotary endodontics employs electrically powered instruments to perform treatment on root canals. The hand tool we use is equipped with a tip made of nickel-titanium. This material is 5 times more flexible than stainless steel.
Due to the flexibility, the nickel-titanium instrument is able to perform unique movements that allow the tool to insert deeply into a curved root canal without damaging or stretching the passageway. This allows a more reliable procedure to be done in a quicker manner.
- Precision: Nickel titanium cleans the root canal more smoothly and consistently.
- Reliability: Root canal procedures have a lower chance of complications and are more reliable.
- Quieter: The tool is much smoother and quieter. This provides the convenience of having the procedure done without the loud grinding that is experienced with manual files.
- Faster: The fast treatment time, coupled with instruments that are quieter, creates a more comfortable experience for patients.
VELscope® Mucosal Examination System
The VELscope® is a powerful screening tool used alongside our standard clinical oral exam. The blue light emitted by the VELscope® causes soft tissue to fluoresce, revealing unusual changes not visible to the naked eye and assisting in the early detection of lesions that may be pre-cancerous. Discovering oral cancer in its earliest stages is critical to successful treatment.
We believe the key to increasing early-stage oral cancer detection is two-fold:
- First, to ensure that all patients are screened at least annually for oral cancer using the conventional “white light” exam (a visual and manual examination of the oral cavity, head, and neck).
- Second, to supplement the conventional exam with an exam using an effective adjunctive screening device.
